Springs Pool Closure FAQs

Q, When will the swimming pool at Springs Leisure Centre close?

A. The swimming pool will be closed from Friday 17th March 2023.

Q. How long will the swimming pool at Springs Leisure Centre be closed for?

A. The swimming pool will be closed from Friday 17th March and will be closed for approximately 4 weeks; we are planning to reopen the pool on Monday 17th April.

Q. Is it just the swimming pool that will be closed?

A. The planned maintenance work only requires the pool hall to be closed.  Customers can still enjoy access to the gym, fitness classes and sports hall. Due to the maintenance work, there will be no hot water in the venue during this time and some customer areas including the changing rooms and dance studio will be without heating. Showers will be unavailable during the maintenance work period.

Q. Where can I swim whilst the pool at Springs Leisure Centre is closed?

A. Swimming is available at Concord Sports Centre, Heeley Swimming Pool, Ponds Forge and Westfield Sports Centre. All our venues offer a variety of sessions including lane swimming, just swim, ladies only and splash sessions.

You can view our timetables at https://www.sheffieldcitytrust.org/venues

Q. What maintenance work is being completed?

A. The planned maintenance work is the management of asbestos in non-customer area.  The works requires the boilers and water pumps to be turned off, resulting in the pool needing to close

Q. Do I need to worry about asbestos exposure?

A. No, there is no risk to our customers.  The maintenance work is being carried out in an area not open to the public. Asbestos does not pose a health risk if it is managed.  The venue is regularly inspected, and our asbestos management plan is frequently reviewed by external specialists.

A. All swimming lesson customer accounts for Springs Leisure Centre will be frozen during this temporary closure. If you pay via direct debit then your payment will be taken as normal for March and no payment will be taken for April to reflect the period of cancelled lessons. If you pay via block payment then your account will be frozen and no lesson credits will be taken for the cancelled lessons.
