Sheffield International Venues offer an abundant number of rooms and halls located all over the city that are suitable for academic purposes.  Sheffield Hallam University are one of the few institutions that take advantage of our convenient facilities.

Commonly mistaken as strictly leisure venues that host sporting and entertainment events; all our venues double up as convenient spaces for hire that can be used for conferences, dinner dances, exhibitions, meetings and even examinations.

While Don Valley Sheffield is home to Rotherham Football Club, the Sheffield Eagles Rugby team, and hosts high profile concerts such as The Rolling Stones and U2 (August 2009), the venue on a typical day is surprisingly quiet.

For this reason, Sheffield Hallam University use Don Valley for student examinations. The Indoor Straight is only one of the rooms available for hire, and it can easily accommodate 650 students for an exam.

As anyone would appreciate, keeping concentration during an exam is extremely important and the Indoor Straight is conveniently designed with spongy track flooring that minimises the usual distracting noise created by students walking in and out of the exam hall.

The venue has been described as a 'suitable environment' for students taking exams and as it is located close to frequent and reliable public transport links, Don Valley is a venue of choice for the University.

Students from the exams in May were appreciative of the free car parking and assistance from attendants (hired specially for the two week period). They also expressed their amazement at the sheer size of Don Valley Sheffield and the signage around the venue ensured there was no confusion and students getting lost.

As a sporting events venue, our SIV employees are highly trained in dealing with large numbers of customers, and Sheffield Hallam's Chief Invigilator was happy with the service from Don Valley's staff and found them 'very helpful at all times'.
