Sheffield rock legends Joe Elliott and Rick Savage returned home for the making of their latest music video.
The Def Leppard duo selected City Hall Sheffield to shoot the video for ‘England Rocks’, which is set to be one of the country’s World Cup anthems.
Performing under the name of Joe Elliott’s new band, ‘Down N Outz’ backed by the Quireboys, they used the Memorial Hall to record their take on the Ian Hunter classic, ‘Cleveland Rocks’.
The making of the video will be shown on MTV America before it is released in England to coincide with the World Cup in June.
During their visit to the City Hall, the Sheffield superstars took time out to support Yorkshire Cancer Research, Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity and Cavendish Cancer Care's summer charity event – the Space Hopping Challenge, which is due to take place outside the venue on July 25.
Malvin Mortimer, tour manager, said: “The boys are Sheffield through and through so it was fitting that they should choose one of the city’s most prestigious music venues to record this video.
“It is a stunning location and provided a great backdrop for filming. The on-site staff team was fantastic in supporting our own crew with sound, lighting and catering, which ensured the highest quality setting for the making of the video.”
The City Hall is one of 14 sports, leisure and entertainment facilities that make up Sheffield International Venues’ (SIV) portfolio, one of the largest concentrations of diverse venues in Europe.
Other events and shows that have been filmed at SIV facilities include Indoor the X Factor, Antiques Road Show, The Games - Channel 4, BBC's Pot Black, A Touch of Frost, ITV's Celebrity Fit Club, Justin Lee Collins: High Diver, Sky One and Blue Peter.
