Sheffield International Venues are celebrating a double award win from the Yorkshire Business Tourism Awards for their flagship venue Sheffield City Hall. While two of the company's venues were nominated for three out of the possible nine awards, the ceremony sponsors Insider Magazine claim ‘Sheffield City Hall created the most excitement among the judges' and as a result, the venue won the ‘Large Venue of the Year' title and the ultimate ‘Grand Prix' accolade.

After claiming the 'Large Venue of the Year' honour, Sheffield City Hall was awarded the overall-winner 'Grand Prix' prize; the acknowledgement of a venue that best demonstrates what Business Tourism in Yorkshire is all about.  The judges recognized that Sheffield City Hall had gone the 'extra mile in 2008' by doubling its conference and event activities in the last year.

Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, also managed by Sheffield International Venues was short listed for the ‘Large Venue of the Year' and ‘Team of the Year' categories. The recognition is extremely encouraging as the venue still has huge potential for business tourism growth.

Sheffield International Venues celebrated in ‘Slumdog Millionnaire' fashion at the ceremony as they were the only company to receive more than one award. SIV has a dominant presence in Yorkshire, managing 14 venues and is now starting to realise its business tourism capabilities. Dom Stokes, General Manager of Sheffield City Hall concludes,
